Privacy Policy
Who looks after your data
Aquis Group / Tony Fung Investments, Level 4, 111 Eagle Street, Brisbane QLD 4000, AU, decides how personal information gathered through magicalslam.com is used, which makes it the "controller" in GDPR terms. Send privacy questions to privacy@magicalslam.com.
The legal frame
Our baseline is Australia's Privacy Act 1988 with its Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). For readers they cover, the EU and UK GDPR and California's CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, apply on top.
Information we gather
- Connection details logged by the web server: IP address, the rough geolocation that address implies (city or region), user agent string, device type, page addresses and the page that referred you.
- Form data entered on the contact page: your name, email address, topic and message. It only reaches us inside the email you choose to send.
- The cookie setting you picked, held in your own browser.
What it is used for
- Keeping the site online and safe from abuse (necessary; legitimate interests).
- Answering your emails (legitimate interests).
- Analytics on which parts of the review get read, once you opt in.
- Marketing and affiliate attribution, so a referral partner can tie a booking back to our link, once you opt in.
Who else sees it
Partner and affiliate networks receive, with your consent, what they need to credit a referral: usually a click reference, a time and basic device details. Our hosting and mail providers handle data on our behalf under written agreements. No personal information is sold for money. Should affiliate tracking amount to "sharing" under the CCPA, rejecting advertising cookies opts you out, and a Global Privacy Control signal does the same without any click.
How long we keep it
Server logs roll off after roughly a year. An email thread stays only while the matter is open and is cleared within two years after that. The cookie setting stays put in the browser until you reset it.
Rights you can use
Australia (APPs): ask to see the personal information we hold on you, or to have it fixed. If our answer leaves you unsatisfied, the Australian Information Commissioner's office (OAIC) takes complaints.
GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and pulling back consent whenever you like; a supervisory authority where you live can also hear a complaint.
CCPA/CPRA (California): residents may learn what we hold, have it deleted or corrected, refuse its sale or sharing, restrict how sensitive data is used, and expect the same service whichever of these they use.
Requests go to privacy@magicalslam.com; we may ask for something that confirms your identity first.
Storage abroad
A few providers keep data on servers outside Australia. In those cases our contracts require safeguards of a similar standard.
Minors
This review is written for readers aged 18 or above. Should a child's details reach our inbox, tell us and they will be erased; we never set out to gather them.
